DAY 60!?!?!!

Good morning!!
Today is day sixty, and although my results are not as extreme as they were in my first thirty days I am still on a roll!! BRING ON THE NEXT 30 DAYS!

Surviving the weekend and Fat Flush

Good evening!!!!
Ok so it is Friday night, and I have just finished my homework. I had a salad with Grilled chicken for dinner, and have not had carbs in 10 days!!! I can tell that my body has needed to adjust to the change because I have been more tired, and irritable. BUT it is getting better, for me that hard part is making different things without getting bored. 
I have also started doing a fat flush yesterday and its going great! I have had a lot more energy today!! :)

Zucchini pasta: Using a vegetable peeler, cut the zucchini into lengthwise ribbons. Heat 1 tbsp of olive oil in pan, add zucchini ribbons and stir for 3 minutes until the zucchini turns translucent. Top with a healthy tomato sauce and enjoy.

Lettuce wraps: Swap your sandwich bread for lettuce leaves. Wrap around turkey slices, colorful cut-up veggies, etc.

Freekeh: This roasted green grain made from immature durum wheat is packed with protein, vitamins and minerals. Not only does freekeh contain 6 grams of fiber per serving, but it’s also low in carbs, high in fiber, has a low glycemic index and is rich in probiotic properties. Enjoy as a side dish instead of rice. Available at health food stores.

Step 3: Super Spice Your Protein
Mix up a delicious fat-burning rub containing three super spices that also add great flavor to your favorite protein dishes. This tasty mixture combines chili powder which fights fat with capsaicin, the substance that gives chili peppers their spicy kick. The turmeric contains curcumin to suppress the growth of fat tissue, and mustard seed is shown to speed up metabolism.

Step 4: Snack Skinny
Snack yourself skinny with Kim Lyons’ Cauliflower Popcorn. This tasty nosh is actually roasted cauliflower fashioned into “popcorn” bites. Cauliflower supports your liver’s cleansing abilities to help you lose weight faster. This snack also contains hemp seeds, which have protein. Eat twice a day to satisfy midmorning and late afternoon cravings.

Ingredients

2 heads of cauliflower
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp hemp seeds
Pepper to taste

Directions
Cut up cauliflower into popcorn-size florets. Mix with some pepper, olive oil and hemp seeds. Bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes at 420 °F.

  • Start your day out right. "Eat a healthy breakfast on the weekend, when you have more time," says Susan Moores, RD, a spokeswoman for the American Dietetic Association. "You usually eat less during the day if you start with a healthy breakfast, and you get some good nutrition."
  • Don't go hungry to "save up" for a big dinner out. "Saving yourself backfires -- you usually end up eating way more than you would have if you ate normally throughout the day," says Moores. "Have a little bite to eat before you go out to take the edge off your hunger, and then simply enjoy good food when you go out."
  • Savor the experience of dining out. "Allow yourself to enjoy good food and savor it, rather than overindulge in it," says Moores. "People forget what the whole eating experience is about -- sitting with friends, enjoying your time together, and relaxing."
  • Eat slowly. "It takes 15-20 minutes for your brain to signal your stomach that it's full, so take your time," Moores explains. "Whether you're at a party or eating out on the weekend, remember to slow down when you're eating."
  • Halve your restaurant entrees. "Splitting an entree with a friend is a great way to make a significant cut in calories on the weekend," says Moores."
  • Avoid overdoing it with alcohol. "If you can cut out one or two drinks per day on the weekend, that will save you 100 to 150-plus calories," says Moores. And, she explains, people who drink more tend to eat more as well. So drink alcohol with caution, if at all.
  • Find a substitute for soda. "Use water to satisfy thirst, rather than soda, which many people drink more of on the weekends," says Bryant. "Not only are they consuming a tremendous amount of calories, but soda is high in fructose, which stimulates the appetite."

10 Days until my BiRtHdAy! :)



As a gift to myself as of last Friday, I decided NO more carbs until my birthday which is June 20th and after that in very SMALL moderation.  I have been doing great, and do feel as heavy. I could tell you it is easy and awesome, but that would be lying. I LOVE carbs, mostly pasta, noodles, spaghetti, and bread. 


















Before my amazing journey I could sit down and eat 1 pound of buttered noodles and not be full. I know! DISGUSTING! Although it has been hard and smelling freshly baked bread is a large temptation I am doing good. Since I stared Shakeology, back in April, I haven't really craved noodles as much as I have before. Which is AMAZING!!!

1GRAB A QUICK, HEALTHY BREAKFAST

There's no way you're going to survive the water park, state fair and backyard barbecue if you don't start the day with a good breakfast. It's tempting to skip the first meal of the day in favor of a few extra minutes of sleep (or to wrangle a pair of unruly tots) but rather than starting your day on an empty stomach, Hartley suggests packing a healthy breakfast the night before and storing it in the fridge. That way all you have to do is grab and go. She says to choose simple foods from two, three or more food groups to get more bang for your breakfast buck. Some quick, healthy, on-the-go options include:
  • Peanut or almond butter and banana sandwich on whole grain bread.
  • Half of a whole wheat pita stuffed with chopped hardboiled egg, shredded carrot and diced red and green pepper.
  • Plastic container filled with low-fat cottage cheese, berries and other seasonal fruit.
  • Cooked quinoa tossed with a handful of raw nuts and frozen berries packed into a leak-proof container.

2PACK A NUTRITIOUS, SATISFYING LUNCH

Being on the go shouldn't mean forgoing food. "Don't starve yourself at lunch – it will only lead to overeating later," Hartley says, adding that at lunch, you need to eat about one-third of the servings you require from all of the food groups. This means avoiding the drive-through and making something simple and power-packed the day before you go, or in the morning if you have time. Some super-quick and tasty options are listed below, which can all be easily customized based on your preferences and how many mouths you'll be feeding.
  • Pasta salad: Cook up some whole wheat pasta and toss with your favorite raw chopped veggies, olive oil, lemon juice and fresh herbs.
  • Beans and rice: Make a batch of brown rice and add a can of drained and rinsed white beans. Mix in some lightly sautéed greens (Swiss chard or kale) and other colorful vegetables of your choice. Top with a low-fat dressing or drizzle of olive oil and balsamic vinegar.
  • Stuffed pita sandwich: All you need for this one is a whole wheat pita cut in half and stuffed with hummus, canned tuna or sliced grilled chicken, baby spinach, diced onion and cucumber. Wrap it up and you're ready to go!

3CHOOSE HEALTHY DINE-OUT OPTIONS

Being on the go means you're going to end up eating out at some point, especially if you're on a road trip or have a long drive between destinations. But, as Hartley says, eating out in a healthy way is all about portion size, so she suggests asking your waitress exactly how large your order will be before you commit. If you have a smartphone, there are many apps that tell you how many calories are in various restaurant meals. Try Restaurant Nutrition (free for iPhone and iPod Touch) which has a database of more than 30,000 food items from 200 popular restaurants. And don't be afraid to ask how certain dishes are cooked so you know exactly what you're getting (roasted versus fried, for example). You can also ask for sauces and dressings on the side, avoid anything fried and don't feel compelled to clean your plate. "As soon as your order arrives, split your dish into two servings to share or eat for a later meal," the nutritionist adds.

4PLAN AHEAD

The best way to maintain a healthy diet with a jam-packed schedule is to plan ahead, Hartley says, adding that going away for the weekend shouldn't mean spoiling a week's worth of healthy eating. In the days before a road trip or particularly busy weekend that will have you running all over town (and beyond), stock up on nutritious, on-the-go foods like apples and oranges, snack-size low-fat yogurt, raw nuts, raisins and other dried fruit. That way, even if you don't have time to pre-make breakfast or lunch, you will have healthy snacks to keep your energy up and supplement any eating out you do. "Most people will eat junk food because it is convenient, but they'll often choose healthier options if it's made available," says Hartley.

KEEP TRACK OF CALORIES

The key to healthy, sustainable weight loss (especially when you're on the go and it's hard to keep track of what you're eating) is being mindful of calories consumed versus calories burned, explains Hatley. A smartphone app like MyFitnessPal (free for iPhone and iPod Touch), allows you to enter what you've eaten from the database of more than 750,000 foods and track how much you're moving, so you know where you stand even on your busiest day. If you don't have a smartphone, Hartley suggests using the CalorieCount.com text tool. Simply text message "food" and the item you'd like nutritional information to 432584 ("HEALTH" on most phones) and you'll get a response with the specific calorie count.

Day 48

Good Afternoon!

I am getting VERY excited because my day 60 is coming up here. I have been giving it my ALL and pushing through. I have only missed ONE day of working out since day 30. I have had more energy, ambition, and motivation then ever before!

**Some of the workouts I have been doing are:













*TurboFire, the ones I really like are the HIIT workouts! They are intense, but short so I feel like I didn't work out long enough so I usually do a core, or ab workout with them. I have also been getting to memorize the moves so I can tell that I am pushing harder and sweating more!



*Zumba, this one I feel like is my soul mate workout. I have been doing it for over a year, and I love the music, and shaking my hips. It feels more like dancing than working out, aside from all the sweat pouring out of me though! ;) 

*Walking, just since my day 30 have I started walking more, I have made the trip to Taylor's Falls from my house twice now, and will be doing it again on Friday. It is a 8.5 mile jaunt but it feels so good to take it slow, but feel the burn and the soreness later on. 1 mile equals 2,000 steps and acording to Livestrong.com, about 10,000 steps is 
recommended to lose an average of one 

pound a week.. When walkinh that far I will

 lose about 2 pounds a week or more 

depending on how many times I walk that in a week, along with the workouts I am doing. 






You also have to factor in that 

when working out, eating 

right, and pushing to change 

your life for the better you are 

losing weight, but also gaining 

muscle and muscle is smaller 

than fat is. SO you need to pay 

attention to inches and how your clothes feel.
