Today I want to express how important it is to take time out for yourself. That is the ONLY way you will fully be able to get the TRANSFORMATION Tuesday you desire for yourself.
We all know that we are ALL busy. We have kids, work, school, laundry, dishes, cleaning, more laundry, more work, we have to get the kids to school, we have to mow the lawn, weed the garden, make breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We are ALL busy all the time. One thing that we NEED to do for us though is take some "ME" time. The time you spend on yourself can be reading, taking a bath, working-out, going and getting a message, or a pedicure.
According to the Harvard Gazette:
Dan Gilbert, a professor of psychology at Harvard, found people were happiest when making love, exercising or engaging in conversation. They were least happy when resting, working or using a home computer.
Taking time out and writing out your goals and dreams for yourself is the first step. Even leaving a notebook around the house so you can write things as you think of them will help you use your "YOU" time more efficiently. When you are able to remember the dreams you had when you were more "free", and had more time to yourself, and got to do what you wanted, you can better establish what you want in your life, and what you really don't need. Do you want to get back into the shape you were in, in High school? Do you want to take a painting class? Do you want to travel? What ever you want to do, you need to find it out before you can do it.
After you write out your dreams and goals in life you can concentrate on one at a time. You want to lose weight? Find your "Me" time and go take a class or even workout at home. Join a group and then you will also be able to vent, and stay motivated.
You want to travel? Take 10 min. a day to look up different places to learn about, and then figure out what it will take to get there.
You can do anything you set your mind to, you just need to make time so you can figure out what that is you want. When you take the time out and focus on you, it gives you a clean slate, you are able to think about you, what you want and how you want to live your life.
Here is a piece of an article I found, that explains stress and why you need to take time for yourself.
The signs of stress
Stress takes a toll on the mind and the body. The following are some signs, both physical and mental, that it may be time for a personal break.
- Headaches
- Sore neck or muscles
- Physical or mental fatigue
- Irritability
- Feeling overwhelmed
- Trouble falling asleep or staying asleep
- A change in appetite, either eating too much or too little
- Difficulty concentrating
- Difficulty problem solving
- Finding it hard to think clearly
These symptoms may also signal other medical problems that could require the immediate attention of your health-care provider.
Taking the time today
There is no reason to wait until you are feeling burnt out to make time for yourself a priority. Building breaks into your days can help keep stress from mounting. Whether it is a busy day at the office, at home or in your life in general, take the time to step away from whatever you are doing and focus on yourself. Make it a part of your everyday schedule and don’t skip it—those breaks are just as important as any deadlines, homework, errands or other activities you have going on.
