Workout Wednesday!

Good Morning, from Iowa, this morning! :) My sister and I are on a road trip down to Texas. :)

Today I want to talk about the 21 Day Fix again, but to tell you a few more details and to let YOU know I will be running my own TEST group. Its going to be strict, but that because I want to COMPLETELY follow the program and see the results we can get from it.

1. How much will the 21 Day Fix Cost?
The 21 Day Fix will be starting out at $58.85 for the Base Kit, and the Challenge Pack (what you will need for the TEST group) will only be $140! That is like paying only $10 for the 21 Day Fix base kit, when you buy the Shakeology.  Sign up for an email reminder to order before it sells out on the 3rd.

The challenge pack will go up to $160 after February 28, 2014.

2. What is included?
In the Basic 21 Day Fix: You will recieve 7 workouts on 2 DVDs -Dirty 30 workout, Total Body Cardio Fix, Upper Fix, Pilates Fix, Cardio Fix, Yoga Fix. Plus the nutrition guide with 7 containers that are essential to following the plan. You will also get a workout calendar, 3-day Quick Fix that Autumn uses for photoshoots, an eating plan, and 24/7 Online support, and a shaker cup.

In the Challenge Pack: Everything above plus a 30 day supply of Shakeology in any flavor. You can have Shakeology on the meal plan.

In the Ultimate 21 Day Fix: Everything listed above, plus an insulated bag, and 2 workouts - Flat Abs Fix and Barre Legs. You'll also recieve 1 Pro-Grade Resistance Band (15lbs) and a large on-the-go container.

Sign up for an email reminder to order before it sells out on the 3rd

3. What does the nutrition plan look like?
The nutrition plan looks like one of the easiest I have ever seen. No food is off limits because everything is in moderation. You will not be forced to eat foods that you do not like, you can really eat anything, within reason. You are allowed Shakeology.

When you recive the 21 Day Fix, you also recieve portioned food containers that are measured out for the perfect portions. You dont have to count calories, or anything! Its all planned out using the containers. The containers are easy to carry with you, and they are microwave and dishwasher safe!

4. Can I have cheat meals?
Yes, you just dont want to stuff your face. You can have a treat a few times a week, and she does break down how to include for something like pizza.

5. What results can I expect?
People generally lose 10-15 lbs!!!! It isnt a starvation or a quick-fix type of program. You can lose 10-15 lbs and keep it off when you practice the healthy habits you learn in the 21 days of the Fix. Sign up for an email reminder to order before it sells out on the 3rd.

6. What are the workouts like?
They are 30 minutes long and vary daily. Autum Calabrese is the trainer, and the set is very light and fun. Each workout is intense and necessary to your results. Two great things about the workouts is that 1. Autumn is a stickler for proper form so you get the most our of your workout, and do not risk injury and 2. There are modifications. The modifier is in all the workouts and you will still get the best results possible.

7. Who is the 21 Day Fix for?
Honestly - anyone, and I dont just say that about any workout. I like to make sure the workouts people are choosing are right for them, and their bodies. I know that this will be good for anyone because the meal plan is flexible enough and there are enough modifications a beginner, even a beginner that is obese, could do this workout with their doctors consent. Someone at an intermediate level will love this program because it offers challenge without wanting to quit, and even someone at an advanced level can benefit from the 21 Day Fix. This program is not only for women either. There have been many men in test groups for this program that loved it.

8. Can I become a Beachbody Coach when I order The 21 Day Fix?
Yes! Its actually a great time to take the plunge because you can the the 21 Day Fix, a 30 day supply of Shakeology, and sign up to coach all for $140. As soon as you sign up, you'll be able to have  your friends order from you as will to help cover your costs (plus you get 25% off any other personal order you place). Feel free to email me before the 3rd to check on our training and accountability we offer for our coaches. :)
My team and I would love to include you! Email me at lapinski.steph@gmail.com

Remember the 21 Day Fix goes on sale 2/3/14, and you can get an email reminder to order it first here and be added to my own Test Group Starting in February!

Transformation Tuesday!

Transformation Tuesday!

Before Body Beast I was very unhealthy and unhappy! I was a heavy smoker and drinker and had suffered from severe depression and PTSD most of my life. I'd been through 9 surgeries in 8 years and was recently diagnosed with a rare and incurable brain disease that mimics a brain tumor. My doctor said the only way I'd go into remission was if I lost weight and became active. And if I didn't do those things, I could permanently go blind.

Not only did I NOT want to lose my vision but my 8-year-old son has the development of a 6-month-old and the thought of not being able to care for him, or my other 3 kids, was absolutely terrifying! I knew I had to do something, but didn't know what. I tried everything under the sun, from cutting back to 800 calories a day, to HCG drops, to 2 hours of cardio 6 days a week on under 1,000 calories yet I was GAINING weight—so I gave up.

But soon there after my husband stumbled upon a picture of an old high school friend who had just done Body Beast and his "Before" and "After" pictures were mind blowing! We wanted some of what he and his wife were having…and fast! He immediately became our Coach and our lives have never been the same.

At first I was a little intimidated about weight lifting, but I did a lot of research and discovered that lifting has INCREDIBLE benefits for women. Plus I liked how Sagi explained everything so well through and I really loved the eye candy! But in all seriousness, I've fallen in love with weight lifting and love being able to challenge and push myself while trying to beat my personal best every single time! I love Body Beast and am in it for the long haul.

Right off the bat my husband and I joined a Challenge Group, which was great because it held us accountable and there was always tons of support, inspiration, and encouragement. And our Coach, Ray, was amazing! He gave me encouragement when I felt discouraged and offered great advice when I didn't know what I was doing. Both my Coach and my Challenge Group played a vital role in my (and our) success! Plus the calendar and the eating guide were both so helpful because they took the guesswork out of everything.

I also started drinking Shakeology, which I call my miracle in a bag! It really did stop my bad food cravings and I sleep so much better. I used to wake up every hour throughout the night and take naps during the day just to function. But now, I can concentrate better, my fingernails are growing for the first time since I was a kid, my hair isn't falling out in clumps anymore, and my immune system seems to be invincible!

I've also stopped having any symptoms of my Pseudotumor Cerebri (fake brain tumor) and no longer suffer from my daily headaches that were so bad that the sound of whispering from across the room made me cry in pain and the smallest amount of light would make my head feel like it was getting shattered against hard concrete. I no longer have ANY symptoms at all and have been weaned off the meds. AND, I'm no longer hypoglycemic.

In 90 days I lost 13.5 inches and 13.3% of my body fat! My hips went from 42 inches to 38, my waist shrunk from 40.5 inches to 33, and I lost an inch in my chest and my thighs. I never imagined I could lose so much when I first started. I also went from lifting 4 to 10 pound dumbbells to pumping 20 to 35 pounds of iron.

Today I see the world so much differently and am more positive and likeable. I've even become a Beachbody Coach because I want to help others the way this program helped me. I really can't imagine life being any different than active and healthy, like it is now! I do not miss the person I once was and never want to see her again! I am so thankful that Beachbody found us and that we saw that picture of my husbands friend.

Workout Wednesday

Do you like to work out at home or in a gym?

I LOVE workingout at home, but with my busy schedule I spend a little down time waiting to pick up the kids from school. So I decided to take advantage of a free 7 day trial at the gym.

I have to admit it was a nice change of scene, BUT I was there for about an hour and I still burn more calories doing 25 minutes of T25 then I did there.

SO for those of you who want to try the gym I found this great article....
New to the Gym? Everything to Know Before Your First Workout

Exactly how to get familiar with this fitness space.

The gym can be an intimidating place. There are so many unspoken rules, unfamiliar machines, and hard-to-navigate areas. But you're not alone in your uneasiness—everyone feels a little uncertain when entering uncharted territory. That said, the best remedy for your pre-gym anxiety is to get yourself comfortable before heading in. Cue the workout pro!
Paul Booth, personal trainer at WillSpace in New York City, is giving you enough insider info to feel like a regular even if you're a total newbie. And yes, seasoned gym goers can pick up a trick or two as well.
Before you even head out the door, you need to pack a bag.
Seriously, these essentials will make your experience much more pleasant. "Bring a water bottle, comfortable shoes and apparel, and hair ties," advises Booth. "And pack any toiletries you need for after your workout, like shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, and shower shoes or flip flops for the shower and sauna. You may also want to bring a journal to record you workouts or log them on your phone."

Take a tour.
Did he say sauna? "Do a little research before you sign up with a gym. Tour the facility with a representative from that fitness center to see what amenities they have to offer."
Utilize the locker room.
Keeping bags piled around your machine just isn't considerate to the people trying to navigate the gym. "Whether or not you have to bring your own lock depends on the gym, so make sure to ask this during the tour. It's always a good idea to bring one along to secure your personal items if the gym doesn't offer them."
Gyms can be germy, but you can steer clear and stay clean.
Everyone sweats, but it's what you do about it that counts. "Most gyms have sanitary stations with products to keep shared equipment clean. Wipe things down both before and after you use them. You may also want to consider investing in some personal items if you plan on using them frequently, like a yoga mat. Some equipment, like free weights, don't need to be wiped down each time, but always be sure to wash your hands when you're done with your workout."
Even beginners can use the weight room.
You don't need to be a body builder to work out in this part of the gym. "Start out light and concentrate on good mechanics and form. As you grow in strength and confidence, increase the load and complexity of movements to continue to challenge yourself. You can also try pairing up with a friend. Having a partner to spot you will make you feel more at ease and you can motivate one another."
Not knowing how to use a particular machine is not a problem.
There is so much awesome equipment that's often ignored because people don't want to look silly (or get hurt!) if they use it incorrectly. "If you spot a new machine that looks like something you'd like to try, but you're unsure of how to use it, check with a trainer at the gym. They will be more than happy to show you proper form and get you off to a good start." But don't stay on that machine too long! Often gyms have time limits on popular cardio equipment during peak hours. If no signs are posted, ask a staffer about the rules.

Transformation Tuesday

Meet Amy B.! She participated in The Beachbody

Challenge and won the $500 Daily Prize for January 13th!

I stood 5 feet 4 inches tall. Wore a size 22. And tipped the scale at 245 pounds. Needless to say, I was very unhappy with the way I looked and felt. I had gained a lot of weight while pregnant with my last baby (who was born in July 2012) and could never lose it. I hated all of my "big" clothes, and all of my smaller clothes from a few years prior were hanging in my closet, staring me in the face. I was tired all the time, had no energy, and felt so incredibly guilty for not being more physically active with my children. I also wanted to have more vitality and sharpness for my job as an RN. I needed to make a change!

But like most people, getting started was my greatest challenge. I started out by drinking Shakeology daily, counting calories, and walking. After losing a pretty decent amount of weight over the course of a few months I finally decided to "push play" on the INSANITY DVDs that were gathering dust in my closet. But I got to say, my Beachbody Coach, Lisa Blythe, was instrumental in that decision. She convinced the skeptic in me that the INSANITY workouts had many benefits to offer if I would just try. So I did. And it forever changed my life.

My body completely transformed during the program and I made huge gains on my Fit Tests. And even though I thought I was in pretty decent shape halfway through, little did I know how much I could improve as time marched on! Now I have strength and muscular definition that I have NEVER had before. My endurance and explosiveness are through the roof. And I perform my job as a registered nurse at a much higher caliber. I absolutely adore Shaun T. He is so motivational and earnest…he's just a great guy. I truly feel like he's a friend.

I love Shaun T's personality as well as the variety of exercises. The order of the DVDs also made a lot of sense and I loved the fact that I could track my progress via the Fit Tests. Even though I went from a size 22 to a 4 and lost 102 pounds, I'm most proud of the fact that I never missed ONE workout, even if I had already worked a 12-hour shift on my feet that day. I never paused the videos, even if I was dying. And I finished each and every workout, with less and less breaks, day after day after day. I am so grateful I bought this program; it was worth EVERY PENNY!

My Challenge Group was also key to my success because they kept me accountable by motivating me via my competitive nature and encouraged me to keep reaching for my goals. Plus I also wanted to stay on par with what others were doing. My Coach Lisa was beyond great and encouraged me on a daily basis. She offered suggestions, motivational words, and accountability. She was understanding and flexible, yet helped me keep my eyes on the prize so I wouldn't give up. We also shared recipes and tips, which were great resources for everyone.

Now that I'm 102 lbs. down, I sleep incredibly well and my energy level and drive are through the roof. I use my asthma inhaler a lot less these days and my knees don't hurt anymore! Today I am strong. I have confidence. And I plan on incorporating INSANITY workouts into my routine indefinitely. I will never give up these fitness gains! EVER!

Motivation Monday!

Good morning! Happy Monday!

Up here in Minnesota the winters last what feels like FOREVER... So a lot of people fall into a funk... or the winter blues. I am one of these people. Once I feel like it has lasted too long, it kicks in. Well here are some ways to beat the winter blues.

The "winter blues" are characterized by the mild depression, lack of motivation, and low energy that many people experience during this cold season. Luckily, there’s a lot you can do to both prevent the blues from coming on and get yourself back to normal if they’re already here.

1. Exercise
As if we needed another reason to get fit! Exercise isn’t only for maintaining your weight and staying healthy. It’s great for relieving the stresses of life. Plus, the effects of a good workout can last for several hours after you hit the showers. You’ll have more energy throughout the day, and your metabolism with stay elevated too. Exercise also helps your mind by releasing those "feel good chemicals" that improve your mood.

2. Eat a Healthy Diet
What and when you eat has a great affect on your mood and energy. Avoid refined and processed foods (like white breads, rice, and sugar). These foods are not only devoid of the nutrients your body craves, but they zap your energy levels and can affect your mood—causing depression, lack of concentration, and mood swings. Try to incorporate more complex carbohydrates (whole wheat breads, brown rice, veggies, fruit) and get your daily 8 cups of water. These healthy foods provide your body (and mind) with nutrients, and stabilize your blood sugar and your energy levels.

3. Get Some Sun
Most people know that sunlight provides us with Vitamin D. But did you know that it also improves your mood? Winter days are shorter and darker than other months, and because of the cold weather, a lot of people spend less and less time outdoors. Lack of sunlight can cause many people to become depressed—without knowing why! Similar to exercise, sunlight exposure releases neurotransmitters in the brain that affect mood. Try to spend a little more time outdoors.  Keep your shades up during the day to let more light in. Sit near windows in restaurants and during class. Try changing the light bulbs in your house to "full spectrum" bulbs. These mimic natural light and actually have the same affects on your mind as the real thing.

4. Avoid Binge Drinking
Staying in with a cold beer or a nice glass of wine may seem like the only thing to do in the winter months, and many people who feel down also tend to turn to alcohol when they’re feeling down. But alcohol is actually a depressant, and rather than improving your mood, it only makes it worse. Avoiding alcohol when you are already depressed is a good idea. Moderate drinking is fine for most people, but binge drinking (defined as having 5 or more drinks in one sitting) is never a healthy choice. The morning after will have you feeling sick, depressed, and even more tired, which will affect many aspects of your life. This will make your low energy and bad mood even worse.

5. Treat Yourself
Having something to look forward to can keep anyone motivated. Winter seems endless! But if you plan something exciting, your mood improves when you’re anticipating it and when the event actually comes. Plan something that’s exciting to you—a weekend trip, a day at the spa, a party (but keep #5 above in mind), or special event like a play, girls (or guys) night out, or sporting event.

6. Embrace the Season
Instead of always avoiding the cold and the snow—look for the best that it has to offer! Take up a winter sport like ice skating, snowboarding, hockey, or even sledding! Enjoy these opportunities while they last—after all, they’re only here a few months per year. Staying active will boost your energy. Seeing winter in a positive light, with all the fun activities that it has to offer, will keep your spirits high.

7. Catch some Zzzz’s
People naturally want to sleep a little bit more during the winter. But with all we have going on, sometimes sleep is the first thing to go. With a little time management, and some self-discipline, you can meet your shut-eye needs. Aim for 7-8 hours each night, and try to keep your bedtime and waking time consistent. That way, your sleeping patterns can normalize and you’ll have more energy. Try not to oversleep—those 12-hour snoozes on the weekend can actually make you MORE tired. Don’t forget naps! A short (10-30 minute) afternoon nap may be all you need to re-energize midday.
